india..part two
and so now i start with a much delayed continuation
DAY 2
well day started off pretty late as we only came in at 3am the previous day..so we woke ard 10ish and again, struggled and had a a mini india-pakistan fight with the heater. after which we gave up and asked e nice man at the counter to help us..
and as our luck had it, he just came in and switched on the tap and hot water came out. like ?????
hahaha we had our showers and went down for a super scrumptious breakfast..very western nth indian at all but im not much of a chapatti-daal person so YAY..i fell especially in love witht he pink jam! its seriously PINK!!! like hot pink!!!! and its sweet and nice..wheeeee love love e jam..
we then left for our most exciting part of the trip......taj mahal!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ok the place is like seriously beautiful la. was so amazing. i can't blog about the experience enough. it was super super super HOT but so totally worth it..felt like i was part of sth so so special..and our guide, though abit cheek-o-peh (he kept finding excuses to touch our shoulders n calling us pretty girls) did a good job..we din feel bored with him and enjoyed ourself thoroughly. he was quite impressed with our ability to absorb hindi. i only have shah rukh and his movies to thank..hahaha..
after that we went to a cottage industry..which is like touristy-shops set up by the government. i think e guides get like some cut of e share if we buy some stuff from there. but there was aircon and free coke so no complains. we din feel forced either so it was ok..saw like ppl carving intricate marble designs..they din look too happy..all underpaid i think..and then i saw...
a SUPER GORGEOUS HUGEEEEEEEEEE greenish-black marble table and it was only 300 sing including transport back to singapore!!!!!!!!!!!! i almost gave them my visa till sunitha and miru snapped me back to my senses.
1. it prob will take up my whole living room
2. it cant fit into my door
3. i dun really need to spend all my money on the first day.
so we walked out of e shop empty handed. sob.
after tht we went to agra fort, where shah jahan was confined to during his last years by his eveil eveil son! so many pretty rooms and windows but the place sadly, is not maintained as well as e taj mahal..quite sad it cld really be v beautiful..from there i tried to imagine poor shah jahan having such a small small view of his darlin wife's tombstone..sobs..so LOMANTIC!
after that we were gonn be driven back to our hotel but it was still early so we requested our driver kailash ( with whom we had bonded quite abit with) to drive us to this mall that we had passed by..
BIG.MISTAKE.
it was TOTALLY boring, everything's super ridiculously priced and nothing's great aniweis. not much shops were open and there were not many ppl there anyway. we called kailashg in like 20 mins and pleaded with him to come back..hahaha so poor thing..lol..but he vert sweettly did and we went back to our hotel and slacked..WATCHED SHAH-RUKH-TV!!!!!!!!!!!
cant express the immense joy i felt at that.lol. ate dinner and the other 2 slept while i wathced more shah-rukh-tv..and slept dreaming happy shah-rukh dreams. wheeeee..
DAY 3
awoke early warly!!! 8 BLOODY AM!!! cuz we had a loooooong drive to jaipur..bloody 7 hours!!!! after the same scrumptious breakfast and immense tipping (i think we spent more on tipping then on shopping) but it was well-deserved tips cuz we really had SUPER SERVICE..g.e.m.s!!
the drive down was really fun..cuz we just chatted with kailash who is really quite humorous and found out more about rajasthan. love love love rajasthan its just so WOW. really love the colours, the culture, the place, the laid-back dessert culture. i tell u even with so mcuh sand, their colours REALLY POP! we even wanted to go down and ask them wad they use. FAB? DETTOL? its REALLLY super bright..
aniweis we had much fun in the car =, joking, playing stupid games, laughing at sunitha not having a bf and thus not being able to buy a house (kailiash was REALLY concerned abt this and kept asking her to find someone in india!), sleeping etc etc.
reached jaipur and kailash brought us to another cottage industry where we went crazy and bought sarees and tailored pretty suits for super cheap price..sigh..i miss india alreadi..cheap clothes!
after that we went to our hotel..which again not a typical hotel..again, a homestay..and really really GORGEOUS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! gorgeous BEAUTIFUL WOW PERFECT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
it was the maharaja's cousin's outhouse..so gorgeous we got the suite room..which is huge and nice and the toilet so so so clean!!!!!! and nice!!!!!
after that we decided to explore the area ourselves. it was really brave of us cuz jaipur had just been bombed a few days ago..hahaha our parents were alreadi freakin out that we were there in the first place..but thank god we did! we found many gem of stores hidden in housing areas..like taitai stores that were not expensive!
fell in love n bought so many many clothes and stuff!!!! i even went for a manicure and everywhere we went it was GEMS!!!!! then we walked back to our hotel, had a nice dinner at the dining room for which we were severely underdressed!!!! wah damn attas la..talked to the owner who is actually the daughter in law of the maharaja's cousin..she really talked to us so nicely and talked about the history of the house and jaipur..felt like even the hotel was a sight seeing place..
at night..watched....kabhi kushi kabhi gham!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! wheeeeeeee! sharukh-tv land rules!!!
ok im getting tired trying to remember details. thus day 4-10 will come later.
as for my current life..i just started my enchanced school experience at kent ridge today!!! was quite ok, pretty slack day..
hope it gets more intersting as e day goes by, but the teachers i;ve met so far are nice and so are my fellow trainees *cross fingers* only downside is having to wake up at EFFIN CRAZY 6AM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! AHHHHHHH!!!!!!! crazyness..sigh..gotta get used to it..sigh..
ok gonna take a nap. so so so so sleepy...byeee
